These have always been priority areas for EPaRDA, and they have been key components of every project. The main issues of engagement include gender equity, the eradication of Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs) and Gender Based Violence(GBV), improving maternal and child health, promoting girls education, and improving  the participation and decision-making roles of women and girls at all levels. Accordingly, various awareness-raising platforms, training, creating opportunities for alternative livelihood activities to generate income, material support, and advocacy activities have been successfully implemented. As a result of these interventions, over numerous girls were rescued from arranged early marriage and received legal protection services; traditional leaders and elders started to prohibit early marriage practices; girls school enrollment and retention showed improvement; and over 600 girls were also directly assisted with educational and hygiene materials.
